چکیده
Developing colloidal plasmonic nanomaterials with high carrier density that show optical resonances and photochemical activity extending from the visible to mid-infrared (MIR) ranges remains a challenging pursuit. Here, we report fabrication of titanium nitride (TiN) nanobars obtained using two step procedure based on wet chemical route synthesis TiO2 nanowires their subsequent temperature annealing in ammonia flow. Titanium nitride as a plasmonic material for visible and near-infrared wavelengths
The search for alternative plasmonic materials with improved optical properties, easier fabrication and integration capabilities over those of the traditional materials such as silver and gold could ultimately lead to real-life applications for plasmonics and metamaterials. In this work, we show that titanium nitride could perform as an alternative plasmonic material in the visible and near-inf...
متن کاملMid-IR plasmonics and photomodification with Ag films
The optical properties of semicontinuous silver films have been studied in the mid infrared. The film extinction spectra are shown to be well tailored by the deposition conditions and post-fabrication photomodification with both nanosecond and picosecond laser pulses at 10.6 μm. The photomodification results in a decrease of the extinction above the laser wavelength. We find that the induced ch...
متن کاملMapping the Spatial Distribution of Dust Extinction in Ngc959 Using Broadband Visible and Mid-ir Filters
We present a method to estimate and map the two-dimensional distribution of dust extinction in the late-type spiral galaxy NGC959 from the theoretical and observed flux ratio of optical V and mid-IR (MIR) 3.6μm images. Our method is applicable to both young and old stellar populations for a range of metallicities, and is not restricted to lines-of-sight toward star-formation (SF) regions. We ex...
متن کاملMid-IR broadband supercontinuum generation from a suspended silicon waveguide.
Mid-infrared light provides numerous unexpected opportunities in scientific discoveries because this wavelength region covers the fingerprints of various molecular vibrational resonances. However, the light generation efficiency and bandwidth have been a long-standing bottleneck which has limited the development so far. Moreover, the light source that can be integrated with other components suc...
متن کاملVisible quantum plasmonics from metallic nanodimers
We report theoretical evidence that bulk nonlinear materials weakly interacting with highly localized plasmonic modes in ultra-sub-wavelength metallic nanostructures can lead to nonlinear effects at the single plasmon level in the visible range. In particular, the two-plasmon interaction energy in such systems is numerically estimated to be comparable with the typical plasmon linewidths. Locali...
